Josh Brolin's eldest child is engaged.

The 58-year-old actor announced his sonTrevor Brolin's engagement to Kristin Wood-Hegner onInstagramon Friday, April 3.

"To see you in full adulthood stops me in my tracks, especially when moments like these happen: massive emotional milestones," Josh captioned a smiling selfie of the couple. In the photo, which was set to The Temptations' "My Girl," Wood-Hegner rests her left hand on Trevor's chest, with her unique engagement ring on full display.

TheWeaponsstar continued, "I'm so happy for you both. Happy happy engagement. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ @funtonofun @kristinhas2is."

Josh has four children. He shares son Trevor, 37, and daughter Eden, 31, with his ex-wife, Alice Adair, and daughters Westlyn, 7, and Chapel, 5, with his wife,Kathryn Boyd Brolin.

Kathryn, 38, commented, "❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Trevor and his fiancée both have private Instagram accounts, and have kept their relationship out of the spotlight. They reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The links in Trevor's Instagram bio indicate that he works atRevel, an Albuquerque entertainment agency offering music venues, restaurants and bars. Meanwhile, Wood-Hegner is the Director of Grant Administration at the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, according to herLinkedInprofile. Her duty is to "manage federal and state funds to address sexual assault and child abuse" throughout the state.

Over the years, Josh has raved about his son.

In a birthday tribute in June 2024, Josh said onInstagramthat his life "changed" for the better when Trevor was born. He wrote in part, "From LA through the desert to Arizona then again on the road to NY. Back to Colorado Springs, Paso, Prescott, France -- you've been dragged everywhere and all for the better for who you are is diamond. You will always be the beginning of what I consider the real start to my life. Your mom and I are so proud of the kind character you are today."

Similarly, for Trevor's birthday two years earlier, Josh wrote onInstagram, "Trevor, my first born. I cannot express the depths of my respect for you." He continued, "Your life I can only stand back from most of the time and watch with great pride, and when I’m in there, frolicking with you, two grown men regressed and laughing at the humor we’ve cultivated so between each other, I melt. Guardians' Chase DeLauter continues hot start with 3 hits and 2-run homer in home opener

CLEVELAND (AP) — Chase DeLauter has developed a knack for memorable openers.

DeLauter became the first Cleveland player to make his major league debut in last year's AL Wild Card series against Detroit.

On March 26 at Seattle, DeLauter became the seventh player since 1889 to hit two home runs in his first major league regular-season game.

So, it wasn't a surprise that DeLauter achieved another milestone on Friday. His two-run homer in the seventh inning of theGuardians' 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubsmade him the first Cleveland player since Joe Charboneau in 1980 to homer in both their first regular-season home and away game.

“Coming in here, packed house, first game, beautiful day. It was a good feeling to get that one. That's as good as you can dream it up” said DeLauter, who went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs.

DeLauter tied it at 1-1 in the fifth inning with a base hit to left to drive in Daniel Schneemann. After Gabriel Arias’ homer put Cleveland on top 2-1 in the seventh, DeLauter drove a 96.6 mph fastball by Hunter Harvey 402 feet into the right-field stands to extend the Guardians’ lead.

DeLauter said he immediately knew it was gone.

“When they come off like that, sometimes you just kind of know,” he said. “I think he went five straight heaters. So, just kind of looking for something up in the zone and got a good pitch a hit.”

The only thing that went wrong for DeLauter is that he didn't time his home run celebration with Steven Kwan. DeLauter nearly took out Kwan's shoulder when they met at home plate.

“That one was my fault. He went in for high five. I went in for a hug and a bad combination there. We’ll get it figured out for sure,” DeLauter said.

DeLauter's five home runs are tied with the Athletics' Shea Langeliers for the AL lead. According to MLB, He is the fourth player with at least five home runs through his first seven regular-season games. Colorado's Trevor Story had seven in 2016 while Kansas City's Mark Quinn in 1999 and Cincinnati's Rece Hinds in 2024 both had five.

He is the first Cleveland player to homer in four of his first seven games. He went deep in the Guardians' first three games at Seattle, but was 1 for 12 in his last four games coming into the home opener. He missed Wednesday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers after fouling a ball off his left foot on Tuesday.

“Like we talked about back in the postseason, this kid’s comfortable. He’s not big eyed and he’s doing a phenomenal job for us. It’s a really fun start for him this year,” manager Stephen Vogt said.

Friday also marked DeLauter's second three-hit game after he went 3 for 5 in Cleveland's 6-4 victory over Seattle on opening day.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say it's a surprise. I’m a hitter, so it’s something I look forward to every day,” said DeLauter, who has a .346 batting average with eight RBIs and a 1.293 OPS.

Appeals court confirms prison sentences for 3 ex-Grenoble rugby players for rape

ANGOULEME, France (AP) — Three former Grenoble rugby players serving time for the rape of a 20-year-old student in 2017 have lost an appeal against their convictions and prison sentences.

An appeals court in France on Saturday re-imposed the original sentences of prison terms up to 14 years.

Irishman Denis Coulson and Frenchman Loïck Jammes were sentenced to 14 years in prison, and New Zealand's Rory Grice to 12 years.

The victim had lodged a complaint in March 2017 following Grenoble’s match in the southwestern French city of Bordeaux. According to French media reports, she said she had met the players during an alcohol-fueled night and was raped in a hotel in the outskirts of Bordeaux.

A court sentenced the men to prison in December 2024, and all three have been in prison since. They claimed that the sexual encounter had been consensual.

“To reach the same decision as in the first instance, the court and the jurors took into account the seriousness of the facts,” said the court presiding judge, Marie-Dominique Boulard-Paoloni, as quoted by L'Equipe newspaper. “We also considered the absence of any notable change compared to the previous decision. You now have ten days to lodge an appeal in cassation.”

Lawyers for the defendants said they would appeal to the Court of Cassation, France's highest court of the judicial order.

Buffalo Sabres' record NHL playoff drought ends: Here's how they did it

TheBuffalo Sabresare back in the NHL playoffs, ending a league-record postseason drought of 14 seasons.

All they had to do was change the messenger.

The Sabres clinched their first playoff berth since 2010-11 with the Detroit Red Wings' loss in the afternoon on Saturday, April 4.

It was looking like the streak could hit 15 when Buffalo sat in last place in the Eastern Conference on Dec. 8. The Sabres won three in a row to get back to .500, thenfired general manager Kevyn Adamson Dec. 15 and promoted Jarmo Kekalainen to the position.

The team took off, extending its winning streak to 10 games. Entering Saturday, Buffalo has gone 32-8-4 under the former Columbus Blue Jackets GM. The Sabres have their first 100-point season since 2009-10 and are looking for their first division title since that season.

Kevyn Adams' tenure

Adams, the general manager since 2020-21, brought in some of the players on this team, such as Alex Tuch, Josh Norris, Jason Zucker, Bowen Byram, Ryan McLeod and Josh Doan. He also traded away Jack Eichel (after a dispute over what type of neck surgery he should have), Sam Reinhart, Dylan Cozens and J.J. Peterka. Eichel and Reinhart won Stanley Cup titles after their trades.

Adams drew some criticism last season when he explained the difficulty of drawing free agents to Buffalo and why players often include the city on their no-trade lists.

"We don't have palm trees," he told reporters. "We have taxes in New York."

Adams last season brought back coach Lindy Ruff, who had been coach of the 2010-11 playoff team. But the Sabres continued their pattern of early-season swoons — 0-10-3 this time — and finished 12 points out of a playoff spot.

Buffalo traded No. 2 scorer Peterka to Utah in the offseason and opened the season 0-3. Fans began chanting for Adams' firing and it finally happened in December.

Jarmo Kekalainen's tenure

Teams often get a bump from a coaching change, but a front office change can also have an impact because a general manager can decide a player's future.

Kekalainen noted that his focus was going to be on work ethic, saying the team had lost some games by being outworked.

"You've got to work, you've got to compete and you've got to be relentless," he said after being named general manager. "That's what I want the identity of the Buffalo Sabres to be."

He added that he "firmly" believed that Sabres could be a playoff team.

Kekalainen had been hired as a senior adviser in May. He had been aggressive in Columbus, hanging on to pending free agents Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin and adding to a team that shockingly swept the No. 1 overall Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round in 2019.

After he was promoted in Buffalo, he revamped the front office and held on to Ruff. He gave a contract extension to Doan, who was acquired in the Peterka trade. But with the team surging, there was little need to change the players.

The general manager made moves at the deadline to beef up the team's depth. He traded for Colton Parayko, but it fell through when the defensemandeclined to waive his no-trade clause. He pivoted to add big, rugged defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn. He also added Sam Carrick, who's strong on faceoffs, and depth forward Tanner Pearson.

A sign that the Sabres were for real was when they defeated the Lightning 8-7 in a game thatfeatured tons of goals and penalty minutes.

What's next for the Sabres?

They will try to win the Atlantic Division title and still have a chance to be the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

There isn't a lot of playoff experience in this core because of the long drought. However, Schenn and Pearson are former Stanley Cup winners and McLeod has been to the Final. Tuch has played 66 postseason games and Zucker has played 52.

And Ruff has coached 101 playoff games, winning 57. He took the Sabres to the 1999 Final.

Who has the longest playoff drought?

The Detroit Red Wings are at nine seasons, the Anaheim Ducks are at seven and the San Jose Sharks are at six. But heading into Saturday's game, the Ducks are second in the Pacific Division, the Sharks hold the second wild-card spot in the West and the Red Wings sit one spot below the playoff line in the East.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been eliminated, and their playoff drought is at six seasons.
